Obtaining Your Droid X Live Wallpaper for android

Installing

To install your Droid X Eye live wallpaper, simply

• download one of the .apk’s linked above straight from your phone’s browser and click on it to install or
• move it to your phone from your computer, open using Astro File Manager or another install-capable file manager, and select install

Once installed, the Droid X wallpaper is selected like any other live wallpaper:

• go to your home screen
• hit the settings key
• select wallpapers > live wallpapers
• the installed .apk should appear as “DROID X.”

The wallpapers should be installable on any 2.1 or 2.2 Android device, with or without root. Currently, only one variation of the Droid X Eye live wallpaper may be installed on a device at a given time.

Power Radio – FM Player with RDS Decoding Updated

Back in February, XDA moderator -PiLoT- wrote about the first version of this complete FM player for Windows Mobile devices. Now XDA moderator 6Fg8 launched an updated version correcting some bugs reported by users. These are some of the fixes present on new version 2.4.0.2

• bugfix: didnt load correct skin after restart
• bugfix: crash when starting scan after clean install
• bugfix: couldnt enter negative values for squelchlevel (using the new reverse squelch option)
• visual clue when logging is enabled (shows “L” in upper right corner)

Anastasia End-Key for HD2

The “Quick List” application that loads on a long press of the end call/power key was a very sensible extension of the power button’s functionality, especially on a WinMo device with as few buttons as the HD2.
However many have found it both useful and lacking; while a data connection toggle is included, the arguably more useful WiFi toggle has been left out, and we have been graced instead with blank space on the remaining unused third of the screen.

I’m a longtime lurker, ever since I got my Touch HD when it first came out and I NEEDED to have an english rom instead of a dutch one. Thanks to this place, my phone runs exactly how I want it to (most of the time ).
Except for a decent app launcher. I HATE the win6/6.1 scrollist ones, allthough the startmenu after that sucked a little less. I liked the yotacenter launcher, but in the end I just ran out of space and had to hit the “all apps” button too often and scroll through a huge list.

HD2 3D Driver Patch 2.50 BETA Available

We've posted about the First HTC HD2 3D Driver Patch from XDA Developers and now we have a new Beta being released for testing purposes to advanced users.

The "patch focusses mainly on a modified OpenGL ES CM, but a CL wrapper is also included (adaptation of NuShrike's CL wrapper) and so is the TG-01 D3D driver. The latter is faster than the D3D driver that comes with the Leo, but it's still not very fast". In plain English, some of the applications that use graphics, such as games, might run a bit slow or stutter on devices like the HTC HD2 and the patch tries to solve this issue.

Version 2.5 being a Beta, as it is stated in it's thread, you might experience some issues but it's still a (big) step forward for the developers and the community. Besides HTC HD2 users, people with LG Expo, Toshiba TG-01 and Acer S200/F1 devices might also benefit from this.

After a quick look at the video, it seems that only the iPhone's Safari browser and Android's browser are currently HTML5 compliant. Everything worked well on my iPhone 3Gs but I had no luck on my HTC Touch Pro2 sporting Windows Mobile 6.5 on either Opera Mobile or PIE. To give it a test drive or know if your device is compliant, set your mobile browser to m.youtube.com and see if it looks anything like our screenshots. Enjoy!

T-Mobile's Future: HSPA+ or LTE?

T-Mobile USA has been aggressively updating its data network to keep up not only with demand, but with current technology. They have been rolling out increased speeds to their towers without end-users needing to do anything (other than have the latest and greatest hardware).

Later this year T-Mobile has plans to launch an Android handset specifically designed for its High-Speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+).

HSPA+ has a theoretical maximum download speed of up to 21Mbps. Real-world numbers would put this closer to 10Mbps, significantly faster than the lower end of the single-digit Mbps that we see today.

Where does that leave us for the future? Sprint and others are already jumping on the LTE bandwagon. T-Mobile's HSPA+, however, is not out of the game just yet. HSPA+'s 21Mbps current ceiling can be upgraded to 42Mbps, but doing so requires more than firmware and software upgrades (like the previous updates), in addition to upgrading the size of the data pipes to each cell, going up to 42Mbps requires new multi-antenna upgrades to each tower -- significantly more labor intensive than a firmware update.

So which is faster: HSPA+ or LTE? Without the 42Mbps upgrade, LTE will win the speed battle. So the question might be better stated: will T-Mobile upgrade to 42Mbps HSPA+ or to LTE?

Speeds Not What You'd Expect? Try a New SIM

If you're like me you've probably been with your cellular provider for quite some time. I've been with T-Mobile for several years and I'm using the same SIM that I was issued way back when.

Apparently, as technology changes (and as your SIM ages and gets worn) you could be left behind in the speed arena.

T-Mobile has been working through an issue SiRMez has been having regarding data throughput on his Android devices. The slow speeds exist both on his Nexus One and his G1, using the same old SIM.

T-Mobile says they "would definitely request a new SIM card. Most T-Mobile stores have them available at no cost. ^JG"

So, if you're still using your old SIM, it may be worth a drive to your local T-Mobile store for a SIM-swap to help squeeze out better data speeds. I'll be heading to my T-Mobile reseller on my lunch hour and will report my findings in the comments below.

15puzzle Game for HD2

Fans of the well known 15 puzzle game can now play it on their HD2 devices thanks to XDA forum member pappus, who has written the popular numbers game for Windows Mobile!

Some of you may remember the days of sliding around tiles on an actual handheld board, but for those unfamiliar with the traditional puzzle game, the idea is to re-order the numbers 1 to 15 after they have been randomly shuffled. The aim is to end up with the number 1 in the top left corner of the board, and the number 15 at the bottom right, with an empty slot in the bottom right corner.

15puzzle has been tested on the HD2, but should run on any WM device with WVGA resolution. Requires .Net CF 3.5.
