Five Minutes of Windows Phone 7 on the HTC HD2

First there was the initial project of getting Windows Phone 7 to boot on an HTC HD2. Then we saw a video of an alleged full port running on the legacy Windows Mobile device and today we're presented a five minute video with more Windows Phone 7 running on the HTC HD2. 

The video demonstration boots the new operating system on the HTC HD2 side by side with the HTC Surround (which by the way is booting faster) and Windows Phone 7 on the Leo seems to be supporting phone operations too as the author calls the Surround using the HD2. There's also demonstration of multi-touch, Pictures hub, lock screen, Music hub, Office, settings and more. Looks like November 8 will be bringing not only devices but maybe also support for legacy Windows Mobile handsets courtesy of the underground development community. 

What we don't know yet is the build used on the HTC HD2 as it is different from the final one. We also wonder how services like Zune and Xbox Live would work on a port running on such device. As always, we're curious of your thoughts!  you can talk about it on Facebook!!!


   

HTC HD2 runs Windows Phone 7, makes us yearn for more

HTC HD2 owners have been trying to shoehorn Windows Phone 7 onto their hapless devices practically since day one, but it looks like a port won't make it into the wild before the platform's formal US launch. That doesn't mean you should give up hope, however, because one variant seems to be at least partway done, winding its merry way from boot through the splash screen and deep into the speedy UI in a far more convincing video demo than the last one that hit our inbox. Though no apps are actually demonstrated nor so much as a basic phone call (pretty please?), multitouch pinch-to-zoom appears to work just fine, and we've little doubt any remaining quirks will be worked out in due time -- if not nearly as soon as new HTC HD7 owners migrating from the HD2 might have liked. We know there are many Android bootloaders for Windows Mobile devices, but this one presented by XDA moderatormskip has very interesting boot options. The final version of Android Loader shows features like the chance to auto-load Android even if it´s not located in the traditional folder, a Windows link to reboot directly to Android without any prompts, and the option to change the startup boot option.
Please be sure to read and understand how this application works before you proceed.

There are numerous Android Bootloaders out there right now that will load Android before WindowsMobile boots up (into the screen) but this app is a bit special

For starters you can load Android easily once you are already using Windows. It comes with a cool looking icon so you can add it to Sense or Mobile Shell or whatever you use as your day to day interface.

On installation you can also set the Android Loader to ask you what you want to do as soon as WindowsMobile boots up. If you select ‘yes’ then everytime Windows boots up you can choose between loading Android or carrying on into Windows.

You will also be asked on installation to select the folder where your Android files are (no typing needed). This NEW feature means that when developers bring out Android Builds that arent in the standard ‘Android’ folder you can still auto load it without any problems.
